"When Pancho calls Jupe Flume's attention to the fact that the seat is out of Mr. Flume's trousers-though Pancho phrases it somewhat more bluntly-this is the first intimation the reader has that the relations between the cartoonist and his French poodle are not the normal relations of master and dog. Far from it! For Jupe is one of those rare human beings who can converse with animals in their own tongue. And it is this gift which makes the flight of Jupe and Pancho so memorable and so delightful. . . This is a happy book. And when the last joyous reunion comes at the State Fair we feel that what we have witnessed has been so indelibly fixed by the author that 'for ever wilt thou love and she be fair.'"; 12mo - over 6" - 7" tall
