Life changes when Serge's foster sister Angele disappears. Determined to find her, he makes his way from France to Jexium Island off the coast of Newfoundland where he discovers a strange colony of children who had no recollection where they had come from but are kept busy gathering a mysterious mineral. Little by little, Serge began to understand the evil design of which Jexium Island was a part. When his enigmatic friend Cyril appears with a plan for releasing the children from their captivity, Serge is launched into as bizarre a series of adventures as ever befell a mettlesome boy.
