Faced with mutual annihilation, a century ago the Americans and Soviets had joined together to form the CoDominium, which kept peace on Earth and soon became a de facto interstellar empire as scores of new worlds were settled. It was an uneasy, unstable peace with the CoDominium stomping on every bit of innovation or original thought it found, but it endured for a century.
Now, finally, the CD is starting to disintegrate and it is up to men such as John Christian Falkenberg and Prince Lysander of Sparta to save what outposts of civilization they can from the impending wreckage.
