1 White, Theodore H. The Making of the President 1960
New York Atheneum 1962 Ninth Printing Cloth Very Good+ with no dust jacket

ix + 400 pp, blue cloth with gold lettering, index, appendices. Corners bumped, a little edge wear including a small dent to back bottom edge. Spine just a bit slanted, binding fairly tight. An attractive copy.

"The making of the President is one of the world's most mysterious and complicated transactions in power. No troops mass on election day, no bands play, no clandestine conspiracies gather to strike violence at the political jugular. It is an adventure for which men have planned, plotted and calculated years before their country wakes to their ambitions. It is a pageant re-enacted every four years, in which the most squalid and the most selfless characters in American life all play a role. It is a game in which many can play, but only one can win."; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall

"To John Ridgely Warren, the old phrases of the Laws of Bankruptcy bring the sudden knowledge that he is at once both innocent and trapped. Warren had come to New York, a stranger, to save two great but ailing magazines. . . . Out of Warren’s struggles in the face of impending disaster comes a swift and moving story of responsibility and freedom, of a man learning that freedom and power carry a responsibility no law can define and no balance sheet settle."; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall; Signed by Author
