"That eminent Actor Manager, Mr. Abercrombie Lewker, had distinguished himself during the war as a Special Agent of our Secret Intelligence Service, and so his old chief appealed to him for help in investigating the activities of a certain Monsieur Leon Jacot, who had recently appeared in the French political firmament. There was also a particular reason for the choice of Mr. Lewker, for he, like Jacot, was an ardent Alpinist and both were planning a climbing holiday in Switzerland. The reader will soon discover another Alpinist in the author, whose descriptions of Swiss mountains and climbing technique is a notable feature of this book; but, apart from this, his cleverly constructed story presents the neatest imaginable puzzle in detection."; Ex-Library; 9¾" - 12" Tall
