Ex-library with several stamps (some marked through) and markings. Pockets apparently glued both to back end paper and pastedown and subsequently removed. Cloth top and bottom edges of boards are pretty much worn through to the boards beneath. Text is clean and unmarked. Jacket is protected by plastic sleeve and taped to pastedowns, price clipped, with minor edge wear and a little darkening. Red cloth with black lettering, 153 pp. "Four weeks out of school - four weeks to fish, play on the riverbank, and be free of worry over report cards and the unfriendly boys at school. 159 pp. This copy has been rebound in durable dark green cloth. Spine shows some wear, especially at ends, corners bumped, minor edge wear, light soiling on a few pages. Ex-library with stamps sprinkled about, rear pastedown has pocket and bar code sticker, "JB" lettered on spine. Plain paper frontispiece, full-page and chapter-head black and white line drawings by Ralph Ray throughout book on plain paper. Overall a nice copy of Burgwyn's first book. "Poor little Guy. He was so lonely. His mother died when he was little, and then his father, leaving him with a cross stepmother. He longed so for a real mother. . . One day he came upon a small white dog that had been hurt. He cared for it until it was nearly well. Through the little white dog Guy found a real home and a real father and mother to love him.
