McCaffrey, Anne Dragonsong (Harper Hall Trilogy Vol One) New York Bantam Books 1988 0553258524 / 9780553258523 24th Printing Mass Market Paperback Good+ Ex-Library Morril, Rowena (cover)
Ex-library with markings and stamps. Corners bumped, some edge wear, book is a little stiff. Edges yellowed but text is clean and unmarked. First volume of the Harper Hall trilogy, part of McCaffrey's Pern universe. "Every 200 years or so, shimmering threads fall, raining black ruin on Pern. The great dragons of Pern hurl themselves through the beleaguered skies, flaming tongues of fires to destroy deadly Thread and save the planet. It was not Threadfall that made Menolly unhappy. It was her father who betrayed her ambition to be a Harper, who thwarted her love of music. Menolly had no choice but to run away. She came upon a group of fire lizards, wild relatives of the fire-breathing dragons. Her music swirled about them; she taught nine to sing, suddenly Menolly was no longer alone." 004344 Price:

McCaffrey, Anne The Ship Who Sang New York, NY, U.S.A. Del Ray / Ballantine 1983 0345297687 / 9780345297686 Tenth Printing Mass Market Paperback Very Good Hildebrandt, The Brothers (cover)
Corners bumped, slight edge wear/rubbing. A couple pages dog-eared. A clean, tight copy. This is a collection of short stories that introduce Helva (XH-834), the to-be-legendary Ship who Sang. Helva was born physically defective, but with a perfectly good brain. Mankind of McCaffrey's Central Worlds universe has learned to save these children and allow them to live productive lives -- as the encapsulated 'brain' running a spaceship......or space station, or city. McCaffrey masterfully paints the growth of Helva as a human being, both limited and freed by the titanium shell she is encased within. An excellent introduction to science fiction, McCaffrey has more recently authorized several 'sequels' involving shell-persons and set in the same universe: "The Ship Who Searched," "Partnership," and "The City Who Fought." 002038 Price:
