Each one has a "Words We Need to Know" section at the beginning featuring key words with definitions and pronunciation guides. Each story is preceded by a brief introduction. At the back of the book is a "How Well Did You Read" section which offers aids to the teacher in teaching and testing comprehension through discussion questions and other exercises such as sentence completion. At the end is a reading speed table.
