Under the Andes, Stout, Rex
176 Stout, Rex Under the Andes
New York Penzler Books 1986 0045405074 Mass Market Paperback Good

Spine well creased, reading crease, some edge wear, chipping, and cover creasing. Some tanning but text is clean and unmarked. A solid copy.

The only fantasy novel Rex Stout wrote, Under the Andes was originally published in 1914 in All-Story magazine. It was never reprinted until nearly ten years after Stout's death in 1975.
Introduction by John McAleer, who was responsible for obtaining a copy of the original story and getting it re-published.
Under the Andes is a 'lost race' story, in which some intrepid explorers venture into a cave which proves to contain a lost race of Incas who have hidden out since Pizarro's conquest of their empire. Written in a style appropriate for serialization, it was apparently deemed too good for that and published complete in one issue.
This novel is one of a number of stories Rex Stout wrote in his twenties, after which he spent a couple decades making his fortune before inventing the detective for which he is most famous -- the large and eccentric Nero Wolfe.; 6" - 7" Tall
